The Children’s City in Dubai is hosting “Your planets Needs You “, an international exhibition hosted for the first time in Dubai. The exhibition is an exploration of our survival in a changing planet. It looks at strategies to ensure the survival of communities and lifestyles worldwide in the face of changing climate and resource availability. The exhibition gives a glimpse into the world in 2050, and explores how our current actions will impact our future.
‘The exhibition is aimed at educating children about the importance of sustainable living in an excited and fun filled environment, which will focus on some of the most pressing issues of today, including global resources, climate change, and our options for a sustainable future’, said Eng. Salah Amiri, Assistant Director of Dubai Municipality.
As the Four characters – ECO, BUZ, TEK and DUG from the year 2050, welcome visitors to the exhibition, people are taken through a unique journey into the future world. The characters interact with visitors and urge them to think more seriously about their future.
‘The visitor will discover new ideas and technologies that could make a big difference right now and in the future’, said Naila Al Mansoori, Head of Children City.
The Exhibition is carefully planned and organized into different sections to create awareness about various resources and their sustainability.
Water area for example, encourages visitors to think about how they access water and what they would do if it wasn’t readily available, as well as introducing techniques and technologies for saving water and making it safe. Similarly, the exhibition engages the visitors on issues related to food, social health, transportation and construction through interactive exhibits.
