Yas Waterworld announces Educational Programmes For Students

Now, who doesn’t love a water park!  And if you’ve ever been to the Yas Waterworld, you know what an unforgettable water adventure really means. Yas Waterworld is the UAE’s first mega waterpark, home to 45 exhilarating rides, slides and attractions – five of which can be found nowhere else in the world! With rides and experiences on offer to thrill both the young and the young at heart, Yas Waterworld is undoubtedly the most sophisticated and exhilarating water-theme park in the region. Yas Waterworld  is now bringing education and excitement together with the launch of three new educational programmes under the Cool Schools initiative, offering UAE students a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the award-winning waterpark.

Comprising equal parts leisure and learning, the programmes provide students with the unique opportunity to discover more about the park’s leading sustainability credentials and the mechanics of one of its top attractions – the Bandit Bomber rollercoaster – as well as the unique heritage of UAE.The newly launched programmes comprise of educational sessions regarding the park’s Emirati Heritage, Water Preservation and Rollercoaster Technology; with students given the option to select one at a time to maximize their ‘edutainment’ experience.

The first waterpark in the Middle East to be awarded a green sustainability rating, Estidama One Pearl, Yas Waterworld’s Cool Schools initiative includes a tour to showcase the mechanics behind the park’s ability to conserve 30% more water than other waterparks of a similar size. Taking an in-depth look at the waterpark’s state-of-the-art sustainable technology, including its Automatic Water Level Control Unit and high efficiency pumps and turbines. The tour accomplishes one of the key aims of Cool Schools: to highlight to students how sustainable project design can contribute to preserving water.

An exclusive look at the technology behind the world’s first interactive water-coaster, Bandit Bomber, is also in store for children. Diving into the mechanics of the ride, students will attend a 30 minute briefing and Q&A session to discuss the ride’s hardware and on-board water and laser special effects, which create an interactive battle between riders and other park guests. The session also details the principles that keep the rollercoaster on its track and offer a smooth and fun ride all day, every day.

A look at Emirati heritage and the ancient art of pearl diving is also on offer, as Cool Schools details the park’s unique Emirati theme and sees students enjoy a showing of the ‘Legend Of The Lost Pearl, telling the story of ancient Emirati pearl diving. Following the show, Yas Waterworld staff will go on to explain simple pearl diving techniques and tools, enriching the student’s knowledge about the history of the country in which they live.

Further elaborating on the initiative, Sammut added: “It is a privilege to help them understand what makes Yas Waterworld the world-class destination it has become, as well as explain more about the history of the country in which they reside – wherever they originate from. Needless to say, we can’t wait for the first group to arrive!”

Yas Waterworld is also providing a sneak-peek at the Cool Schools initiative during the Abu Dhabi Science Festival taking place from 12th to 22th November 2015 at Mushrif Central Park, with an interesting and engaging experiment to help students make their own chlorine from salt water. A small-scale representation of the park’s extensive Chlorine Generation System, the experiment educates students on the chemical activity involved in the process of chlorination. In addition to witnessing the procedure, participants also have the opportunity to test the chlorine levels in the water before and after the process.

Yas Waterworld’s Cool Schools is the latest in a series of student-friendly initiatives at the park, which has also successfully launched a deal for students to experience a day of fun with activities such as an interactive treasure hunt, along with the park’s 45 thrilling rides, slides and attractions.
