It sounds like a thing of the past, when we talk about kids enjoying hours of unstructured outdoor play, simply running and jumping around, climbing trees, eagerly exploring the world around them while developing a range of social and motor skills. Things have changed drastically over the years, as we find today’s children to be more sedentary than ever. In most developed and developing countries, physical inactivity among children has become the norm. Advancements in technology and innovations seem to have pushed physical activity and healthy habits out of our daily lives.
In order to promote healthy living and physical activity within the region’s next generation, Etisalat is proudly supporting and sponsoring Dubai’s first ever wellness-themed run and fun fair for children, The Etisalat Dubai Kids Run, taking place on March 20 – 21, 2015 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Held under the Patronage of HH Sheikha Al Jalila Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and organised by CPI Media Group and the UAE Athletics Federation, Etisalat Dubai Kids Run invites family, friends and children between the ages of 4 – 12 to come together for an action-packed event comprising various runs, exciting activities, interactive shows and community spirit, creating a fun-filled educational experience.
What better way than a fun filled community activity to educate our children about the importance of healthy habits and help them make healthy choices. The aim of the kids fun run is to educate children on the importance of healthy eating, proper exercise and the proactive pursuit of wellness. Bringing the entire local community together, the occasion will offer the opportunity to make new friends while enjoying the outdoors.
Ali Alahmed, Advisor to CEO/Business Continuity, Etisalat said: “We are delighted to sponsor this initiative that packages a serious message in a fun way. It not only ties in with Etisalat’s community support objective to create health awareness and foster community spirit among children, but also creates a unique platform for us to engage with kids and parents in a fun and light setting.”
Ahmed Kamali President of the UAE Athletics Federation commented: “Health is so important to everyday life. This event enables children, family and friends from all different backgrounds and different levels of fitness to come together and enjoy a fun weekend out of the house.”
