The Dubai Grand Parade: A fun day-out for families
The city of Dubai is always bustling with events and activities all-round the year. As residents of Dubai, we often get to enjoy and experience the best when it comes to leisure and entertainment. This time around, there is an exciting event coming up, that promises to be action packed fun day-out for UAE residents and tourists alike. The Dubai Grand Parade, the Middle East’s largest motoring pageant, organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is one of the flagship events of this year’s Dubai Motor Festival, which starts on Wednesday 19th November 2014 and runs until 6th December.
Hundreds of UAE-based owners of super, luxury, unique, classic and vintage cars and bikes will be participating in this grand parade. Led by Dubai Police’s fleet of marquee supercars, the Dubai Grand Parade will weave through the city’s iconic streets and will see thousands of spectators cheer on the convoy as it navigates a series of breathtaking landmarks in a stunning celebration of motoring passion, innovation, and magnificence. The Parade will assemble the widest collection of the most awe-inspiring cars and bikes in the UAE including AC Cobras, Bugattis, Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Jaguars, classic Cadillacs, Harley Davidsons, Ducatis, Triumphs and more. The Parade will also celebrate the UAE’s 43rd National Day as it unifies the nation in a spirit of motoring.
When is the Parade happening?
The Parade takes place on Friday 28th November, 2014 from 2pm onwards.
Where is it happening?
Meydan will be the starting and ending point of the Parade, but the fleet will be passing through a specific route and spectator fan zones along the route will enable residents and tourists to get a glance of the Parade as well as enjoy photo opportunities and a host of entertainment. Spectator zones include Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai and Madinat Jumeirah. To get an idea of the route map, take a look at the picture at the end of this article.
What other entertainment activities are planned?
In addition to the Grand Parade, a specially-designed Motor Village will see Meydan transform into a fascinating world of motorsport entertainment on the 28th November as it plays host to an elaborate line-up of activities. The family-friendly schedule includes:
Guinness World Record Attempts – The Dubai Grand Parade offers car lovers in the UAE a chance to witness and be part of the Guinness World Record Attempts for the largest number of car brands to feature in a parade as well as for the longest selfie relay ever.
Red Bull Car Park Drift Grand Final – The adrenalin packed high octane spectacle will see 16 contestants from across the region compete to be crowned the “King of Drift” after having qualified from their respective country qualifiers. Dubizzle Live! Full throttle fun – One of the many highlights you can look forward to is a live art installation – this masterpiece will be completed on site by their in house talents using a car as their canvas.
Inspired Light by Infiniti – The unique event will be the first time a ‘painting by light’ show will be performed exclusively by cars, in this case the Infiniti QX70S Elite.
F1 Live Experience: Experience the thrill of F1 racing. Get in pole position with the dynamic, simulated, virtual racing experience in real time.
