Prawns and garlic make a heavenly combination. When barbequed on a charcoal grill, the slight char and smokiness gives them an irresistible taste and flavour. Char Grilled Garlic Prawns are must-have for every great BBQ party!
You will need the below ingredients to marinate about 900g to 1 kg fresh Prawns. If you’re using frozen prawns, make sure the prawns are brought to a room temperature and well drained before coating with marinade.
Marinade for Char Grilled Garlic Prawns
Garlic – 3 cloves, finely chopped or crushed
4 tbsp Olive Oil
3 tbsp lime juice
½ tsp lemon zest (fresh or dry)
4 tbsp chopped basil
Fresh pepper, coarsely ground
Salt for seasoning
De-vein and clean the prawns thoroughly. Combine the marinade ingredients and marinate the prawns for an hour.
Thread them onto skewers. Brush with olive oil or melted butter and grill for 6-10 minutes on a BBQ grill. Brush frequently with the marinade while grilling. Once done, serve hot with lettuce and lemon wedges.
