Best children’s books for summer reading

Summer vacation is on and what better time than this to help your children become better readers and confident communicators? Reading over the summer is much more than a recreational activity. Existing research demonstrates that summer reading habits are critical towards building a strong foundation for a child’s future success. Summer reading not only reduces summer learning loss but also empowers children. Children who read show substantial academic gains and strong communication skills. Almost all scientific studies related to summer reading habits indicate that students who don’t read or read infrequently during their summer vacation see a decline or stagnation in their reading abilities.

Encourage your children to read for at least 30 minutes every day, and let them choose the type of books they enjoy reading the most. However, it’s important to make sure that the books are age appropriate and in line with your child’s current language and reading levels. We’ve compiled a list of best children’s books for summer reading for ages 0-14 years. These books could perhaps immerse your children into the world of words and fiction, and more importantly, keep them away from gadgets.
