Traditionally, the vegetables are all hand-chopped. Chopping the ingredients with hand enhances the flavor but you can always use an electric food chopper if time is a constraint.
3 Ripe Tomatoes, chopped or a can of diced tomatoes.
½ cup onions chopped
3-4 Serrano chilies (more, if you like it spicier)
½ cup Cilantro, finely chopped.
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced.
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Salt as per taste
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, and serve with fresh tortilla bread or corn chips.
AVOCADO SALSA RECIPE:
2 Large avocado’s, finely chopped
2 large tomatoes, seeded and finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 small jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
1-tablespoon olive oil
5 tablespoons lime juice
Salt, pepper and garlic powder for seasoning
Mix all the ingredients together and refrigerate covered, until chilled and ready to serve. This salsa does not last longer; hence it is ideal to have it fresh.
CARIBBEAN MANGO SALSA RECIPE:
The tropical islanders prepare tangy and spicy salsa with ripe mango as the key ingredient. It’s delicious, appetizing and full of fresh flavors. Serves as an excellent accompaniment with burgers, grilled meat or chicken and fried fish fillet.
2 Medium sized mangoes, peeled and diced.
2 Jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped.
½ cup cilantro finely chopped
1 Red onion chopped
1 Red bell pepper diced
3-tablespoon lime juice
2-tablespoon fresh orange juice
1 red chili, crushed into small flakes
Salt to taste
Put all the ingredients in a bowl and gently toss them together until evenly mixed. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This salsa can be stored for 2-3 days in a refrigerator.
